These days people in America, Britain and some European countries are taking a lot of interest in history. All the tickets for a history program to be held at Royal Albert Hall in London on October 18 were sold out in May itself. Here historians Tom Holland and Dominic Sandbook will tell people some interesting stories related to history. Both of them have got success from podcasts. They started a podcast (digital radio program) in 2020, which is now very popular. Their podcast- Rest is History is the most sold in Britain. They have recently launched a new podcast on the French Revolution in the midst of the Paris Olympic Games on 29 July.
‘Rest is History’ is not the only successful podcast. Apart from this, the other history podcast Empire had more than three crore downloads in two days. Host Anita Anand says, we are the new rockstars. She says I have got more popularity on podcasts than radio, TV host. Market research
According to firm Edison Research, ten crore people listen to podcasts every week in America.
Their podcast listening time has grown by 450% in the past ten years. Americans aged 18 to 34 now listen to podcasts as much as TV. Many podcast creators, historians, point to a similar evolution. Their storytelling abilities are getting better. “We’ve gotten better at our jobs, we’re writing and constantly researching outside of the field of our respective PhDs,” says Elizabeth Masarik, host of the History podcast.
